Go do dressage!
Dressage is fun and a great way to improve your riding and your horse or pony's way of going.
If you are able to ride walk, trot and canter, you are able to have a go at dressage – it really is that simple. In fact, for some competitive tests you don’t even need to canter. And any riding horse or pony will be able to do some dressage – you don’t need an enormous Warmblood to get you started!
‘Dressage’ actually means ‘training’. It is all about gradually progressing you and your horse’s abilities on the flat. You may just enjoy training your horse and improving yourself or you may wish to try competing.
The beauty of dressage is that it is very rewarding - whether you are working at home and suddenly feel a movement come right or enjoy the challenge of competition. With each outing you can simply aim to improve on your own last score or strive for a placing. Either way you will come home with constructive comments from the judge to help you progress. So, go on, give it a go, but be warned – it can be addictive!
